Lisa Nitsch, Chair Library
Lisa Nitsch is a native Southern Californian, who definitely loves L.A.! She graduated with a B.A. in Music from California State University, Los Angeles and obtained her Master’s in Library Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. There were early indications that she would become a librarian: On a field trip in second grade to the local public library, she remembers being enthralled by the librarian’s discussion on the organization of the books in the library by Dewey Decimal Classification.
Lisa has been working as a Librarian since 1994, and has worked at various academic institutions including Rio Hondo, Cerritos College, Claremont Graduate School, Cal Poly Pomona, Chapman University, and Occidental College. And if it is a specific librarian job – from cataloging to reference, and anything in between – Lisa says she has probably done it. She has been very happy to be here at Los Angeles Trade-Tech for nearly three years now, and finds it is a very exciting time to be a librarian, with the continuing development of new library information technologies. She looks forward to utilizing the valuable knowledge and experience she has gained, in the completion of the term of the previous Chairperson of the Library, Joyce Livingston. Lisa is also enthusiastic about working with the wonderful library staff, as well as the entire Trade-Tech community, in designing and planning the future of the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College Library.
