Los Angeles Trade-Technical College will be open on Tuesday, July 7th despite the Michael Jackson public memorial at the Staples Center and the Nokia Theater. More than 17,000 tickets were given out for the public event at 10am, and police expect throngs to gather in the LA Live area. Maybe as many as 200,000. Street closures will start very early in the morning including the closure of Flower and Figueroa near the 10 freeway. Classes will go on as usual, but staff and students can expect difficult traffic conditions. The Blue Line station in front of campus will become the starting and ending point for the Blue Line. It will not travel north to the 7th and Metro station. The campus sheriff’s are well aware of the crowds expected, so they are preparing to keep parking areas and the campus, free from memorial attendees. Please be patient if you are heading to Trade Tech tomorrow.
