Cash for College Connects Trade Tech with College-Bound High School Students

The 8th annual Cash for College event at the Los Angeles Convention Center was another truly successful event. More than 13,000 high school students from the Los Angeles area converged in the South Hall to talk with colleges about their future, and of course Trade Tech was front and center again. Over the two days, more students visited the Trade Tech display than any other booth. Financial Aid information, matriculation items, scholarship brochures and some great career-technical displays were all part of the Trade Tech presentation. Electrical instructor Ron Jackson brought some students who engaged the high schoolers about that program. Counselor Deborah Campbell was on hand to talk with students, as well as Kyle Skinner who discussed EOPS. Dean of Student Services Dr. Theda Douglas and Associate Dean of Matriculation Dorothy Smith also attended, along with Financial Aid director Cecilia Kwan.  Chemical and Process Technology had a nice display as did Dr. Miguel Moreno’s science students. Sign graphics students were there both days lettering and painting signs. Fred Morago’s auto painting class came by and talked with students about that program. Once again Trade Tech was a leader in career-technical programs and our own Chip Chapdelaine attended Family Night and helped to give out ten scholarships of $1000 each.
