Procedures for Adding/Dropping a Class

Our efforts are designed to meet the needs of all Trade Tech students, as well as satisfying all educational and logistical regulations. Students will not get into every class they want, but they can give themselves the best chance possible by following these guidelines:

  • You MUST attend the first class session or you will be dropped from your class. If you have an emergency, you MUST contact your instructor or the department chair PRIOR to class.
  • It is YOUR responsibility to clear holds or to satisfy any pre-requisites.
  • It is very unlikely that any classes will be added to the current schedule.
  • You MUST have an add card in order to add a class. Process your add/drop cards as soon as possible.
  • It is YOUR responsibility to check with instructors to see if you are placed on the class roster. Notify your instructor immediately if you choose not to add.

Add/Drop Procedures for ALL Classes (except in TE building)

  1. Attend the BEGINNING of the first class session.
  2. Notify the instructor that you would like to add the class.
  3. Add cards will be distributed at the discretion of the instructor once the first class session ends. You will be notified then, if you have secured an add slot. DO NOT LEAVE THE CLASS.
  4. Take the add/drop cards to the designated add/drop processing line in South Campus.
  5. Attend all subsequent class sessions, and verify over the next few days that your name has been added to the class roster.
  6. If you have NOT satisfied the pre-requisites or have holds, but still receive an add card, you will not be processed.

Add/Drop Procedures for classes in TE building ONLY!

  1. Attend the BEGINNING of the first class session.
  2. Notify the instructor that you would like to add the class AND sign the list of students requesting an add spot. Names will be listed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. If the instructor places the add list on the classroom door, there is NO need to enter the classroom. Just sign the list with the most reliable way of contacting you, and EXIT the building. You DO NOT have to be inside the classroom during the first class session, and please DO NOT wait in the hallways.
  4. Available add slots will be filled according to the names on the list, and instructors will begin notifying those students by phone and/or email, as soon as the first class session is completed.
  5. Take add/drop cards to the designated add/drop processing line in South Campus.
  6. Attend all subsequent class sessions, and verify over the next few days that your name has been added to the class roster.
  7. If you have not satisfied the pre-requisites or have holds, but still receive an add card, you will not be processed.
