Metro Stations to be Named after Trade Tech

It took some very special public comment. Five LATTC students went in front of the MTA Executive Board and lobbied for a name change on two Metro stations. The students asked board members to change the names of the Grand Avenue station on the Blue Line and the 23rd Street station on the Expo Line, to the LA Trade Tech stations. The executives listened intently and approved the chance based on the comment from the students. Then the entire MTA board unanimously approved the change one week later. Look for the name change in May. Congratulations to Monique Gonzales, Martha Chopin, Jason Wells, Erick Altman, and Ken Gabb. PR Manager David Ysais and Associate VP Bill Gasper also provided testimony. Here’s the group celebrating the vote with LA County supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
