Our new leadership in the International Student Center here at Trade Tech is making a real difference. Tiffany Sergio and Jessica Cruz, along with counselor Ashraf Hosseini are spreading the word about our college worldwide, so students make this an educational destination. Our international student enrollments are way up because of the team that is in place, and the special things they do, like the recent international student orientation. You can tell the excitement and anticipation these students have, as they land on this campus far from home. Our center has provided a special welcome and is geared toward their success.

What did you do this summer? For some middle school students around Trade Tech the answer was a very special program called 21st Century/Gear Up LA. The program is a partnership between LA Trade Tech and LAUSD which focuses on the personal and academic deveopment of these students. Dean Dorothy Smith along with her assistant Isabel Ruiz-Moreno do a great job coordinating this very special program which introduces students to the college environment. This is important in developing a college-bound culture. Also deserving thanks are Dorothy’s team of instructors. They are featured in this video, and have made the program what it is today.

The Fall 2012 Schedule of Classes are available for purchase for $2.00 in the campus Bookstore.

The Bookstore hours for the Summer (June 4 through August 17) are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you have not enjoyed the wonderful culmination ceremony for GAIN/CalWORKs, you have missed something very inspirational. Looking into the faces of the students, you can see the excitement and success in their eyes. They have stories of triumph, based on the service and help they received through LATTC’s GAIN/CalWORKs program. Director Linda Cole and her staff have done a magnificent job in changing lives and changing attitudes. Enjoy this year’s culmination ceremony and remember that our job is to secure student success.

Bill and Sharon Heard have been helping Trade Tech students for years. It was their wish to develop and distribute scholarships for LATTC students studying in the construction technology areas. This semester four fortunate students were selected as the recipients of the Heard Family scholarships, and of course, Bill and Sharon Heard came on campus to deliver the checks themselves. It is always a great ceremony because these are family-based scholarships and our students can actually meet the Heards personally. We thank the Heards for their generosity and their relationship with Trade Tech.

The annual ADAMM Club car show was even bigger and better than last year. More vehicles, more excitement and more exposure for our students as they encouraged  members of our community to bring their vehicles to the F-roof. Instructors, administrators and plenty of students attended the event as well as a handful of industry partners. ADAMM Club president James Bahn and his team did a great job in building even more momentum around this event. It not only allowed people to display their cars but to learn more about Trade Tech and its transportation technology reputation. Congratulations.
