Tuesday, May the 18th will go down as one of the most memorable days here at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.  Our own Angie Gomez has won the 2010 Junior Style Stars Competition and has been awarded with over $50,000 in cash and prizes including round trips to Orlando to study under some of the most well-known hairstylists in the business.  Paul Berry who is currently the president of Barristar Student Services, a company involved in student tradeshows, competitions, kits, and education along with celebrity hairstylist Allen Edwards who is known for doing Barbara Streiand’s hair for years helped present this award to Ms. Gomez.  According to Berry, students who win this competition have a ticket to be hired at any salon in America. Our local news station FOX 11, our proud department chair Marilyn Maine, college president Roland “Chip” Chapdelaine and college deans were here to document this special moment for Angie who has worked hard with self-determination and has inspired a wave of students here in our Cosmetology department to push the envelope and never give up.  She was also the first place winner in the total evening look category at the SIBE (Spectrum International Beauty Expo) were she won a check for $400.  We are very proud of Angie and hope that this story inspires future students to set their goals high and believe in them.
