Counseling Institute

Counseling Institute Counselors are here to assist you in reaching your goals and ambitions.

An academic counseling session begins with educational goal-setting, exploring education options and opportunities, evaluating the student’s educational background, and providing the student with clear, concise, up-to-date educational information. Counselors can assist individuals to assess their interests, strengths, abilities, and values; to set goals; to make plans to accomplish those goals; and to address personal problems or barriers that impede plans to fulfilling those educational goals.

Entering (first year) students are encouraged to enroll in Personal Development courses.

These courses are designed to help students become better acquainted with the educational opportunities at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and will assist students in developing programs of study that will help them attain their educational goals.

Jorge A. Castro
Adjunct Counselor
Phone: (213)763-5560

Hello, my name is Jorge A. Castro and I am an adjunct counselor (within Bridges to Success) here at Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC). My experience consist of working with student populations both at a four-year institution (University of Southern California, USC) and community colleges ( Pasadena City College (PCC), LATTC). I have worked with first-year, degree seeking, and transfer student populations. My passion lies with community college students because I myself attended community college. I started my educational career at Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) and transferred to USC where I majored in Political Science and Sociology along with a minor in History. I earned a Master of Education, Educational Counseling from USC and currently am pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (Ed.D, spring 2019). My hope is that I am able to assist each student with attaining their personal, educational, and career goals. Aristotle once said, “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” My goal is to facilitate the process of thinking about thinking within every student. A fun fact about me is that I like Disneyland, ALOT.

Crystal Rosiles
Adjunct Counselor
Phone: (213)763-5560

Hello, my name is Crystal Rosiles, and I work in the Bridges to Success Center as an Academic Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Additionally, I took courses at Santa Monica College and Los Angeles Pierce College. Prior to entering the counseling profession, I was a professional makeup artist and received my Esthetician License from SMC. My journey in higher education began when I worked as an Advisor for the TRIO/Upward Bound Program at SMC. This experience inspired me to pursue my Master of Science degree in College Counseling and Student Services from California State University, Northridge. My personal philosophy on counseling is to mentor, support, and empower each student to believe in themselves and achieve greatness as I guide them to reach their personal, educational, and career goals. Throughout my experiences I realized that life circumstances may change the course of a student’s educational and career path, which is why I strive to inspire students to pursue their educational and career aspirations at any life stage here at LATTC!

Hello My name is Iris Zelaya I am a Counselor for Bridges to Success Center. I began my Educational Journey at LACC, I also attended SMC and El Camino. Each school helped me get closer to my goal.
