In order to help students get the most out of their higher education, the college provides tests that assess a student’s general educational background and skills in: Mathematics and English/English as a Second Language (ESL). These tests help students select courses that are realistic and compatible with their level of academic preparation and experience. The Matriculation Department is concerned that students do not waste a semester selecting a class that exceeds their preparation.

It is highly recommended students study prior to taking the Assessment test (Assessment Test Practice and Preparation). Assessment placement test results are valid for two (2) years at LATTC.

Please stop by the Lobby in the Student Services (Juniper Hall) building during testing hours for a service ticket number to the Assessment Center in JH-303.

Los Angeles Trade-Tech College offers computerized assessment testing. No appointments are necessary for Assessment Testing, testing is available on a first come, first serve basis to students that have completed the new student enrollment process

Ability to Benefit (ATB) Testing for students lacking a high school diploma  or equivalent and needing financial, please contact the Financial Aid office (213-763-7082) for more information.

Students need to fill out an Assessment Test Request Form which is available at the Assessment Center. Take time to read the rules on the back of the form. It is highly recommended that you study prior to taking the Assessment Test. Please remember to bring a Photo ID to take the assessment test, NO EXCEPTIONS. The ID needs to be original, NO photocopies. Examples of an ID include a California Driver’s License, California ID, a passport, or a high school picture ID.
