Chevron Interview                     securedownload[2]

Chevron representatives interviewed students from the LATTC’s Process Technology and Electrical, Construction and Maintenance areas. Lawrence Baisley, Process Technology (middle left photo) and Mohamed El Medkour,  Electrical, Construction and Maintenance (middle right photo) were two of the chosen applicants.  We wish them both luck!

HONEYWELL CONTRIBUTES STATE OF THE ART EQUIPMENT

WHAT A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO OUR PROCESS TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM! HONEYWELL DONATED A VERY EDUCATIONAL PROCESS TRAINER TO LATTC THAT WILL GRANT STUDENTS A HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE WITH INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES!

Process Tech – Fall 2010

The California Chemical and Process Technology Alliance (CCPTA) and its member industries (oil and gas, power generation, wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical, and others) view the Los Angeles Trade Technical College Process Program (PTEC) as a viable solution to anticipated worker shortage within process industries. The PTEC curriculum used by LATTC meets guidelines set by the CCPTA and is approved by industry.

WHAT TYPES OF INDUSTRIES?

  • WASTEWATER TREATMENT
  • ENVIRONMENTAL LABS
  • FOOD AND BEVERAGE
  • BIOTECHNOLOGY
  • METALS
  • AEROSPACE
  • PAINTS AND DYES
  • GASES, WELDING, AND SAFETY PRODUCTS
  • GASOLINE PRODUCTION
  • BIO-MANUFACTORING

DO YOU THINK WORKING IN A PLANT IS JUST ANOTHER BLUE COLLAR JOB ANYONE CAN DO?

THINK AGAIN! Process operators and manufactoring associates make a STARTING salary of at least $45,000 a year and can earn up to $70,000 within 30 months!

Some companies even pay more!

Advancements in technology and the quest for greater efficiency have made the requirements prosective facility workers must meet more stringent than ever.  You might not need a four-year degree, but you will need a PTEC degree/certificate to seperate yourself from the competition.

We Can Offer You A Curriculum Dedicated To Your Success!

FALL 2014

  • 1644               Process Tech. 104     Process Plant Safety
  • 1650/4081   Chemical Tech 111     Applied Chemistry
  • 1646/4085   Process Tech 100      Intro to Industrial Process
  • 1647/4086   Process Tech 103      Process Plant Equipment

*Classes starting with section number 40** are evening classes.  We offer classes to suite your schedule!

IT’S NOT A DEAD END JOB!

Want to go to school and get a four year degree? Maybe you want to become a chemical engineer, or maybe you have your eye on management. Most companies will pay for your education if you want to continue with college. Many of the credits you’ll earn in the PTEC program are transferable to four-year institutions.

WHAT DO PROCESS OPERATORS DO?

Process technlogy operators monitor equipment, control process systems, and maintain product integrity through the use of instruentation and laboratory data. They ae responsible for the safe operation and mechaical integrity of the plant and must continuously operate the plant in an efficient maner that meets all regulatory and environmental requirements. Process operators work both indoors and outdoors. They also interact with industry experts such as heical engineers, chemists and maintenance professionals. Knowledge of computers, math, physics and chemical technology are a must as are strong written and verbal comunication skills.

DON’T WORRY…

Our student services offers tutoring if you need assitance in these areas.

WHAT IS PTEC

PTEC is the standardized curriculum that prepares students t work a proces operators in the oil and gas, power generting, wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical, and other industries. This program is available at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Operator positions are highly competitive, having a PTEC certificate/degree give you a leg up when it comes to landing a career!

YOU THINK IT’S JUST “OLD PEOPLE”.

You probably just think old people work at industrial, manufactoring and wastewater plants. The truth is that these industries’ workforces will get much younger. During the next several years process industries will experience workforce shortages. Some larger plants will lose nearly half of their operators to retirement withi the next ten years.

Plants are looking to revitalize their worksource now! They are looking to meet their need with trained workers with PTEC graduates from their communities.

So, If you are interested in a challenging career with a lot of opportunity, Check out the PTEC program at LOS ANGELES TRADE TECHNICAL COLLEGE TODAY!
